The CTMHV Receives $9865 from Museum Assistance Program to Enhance Collection Management
The Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village is excited to announce its heartfelt gratitude to the Museum Assistance Program’s Collection Management Component for their generous support. With a grant of $9,865, the museum has made significant strides in improving its collection storage and organization over the course of one year.
This funding allowed the museum to acquire new storage shelving for three key areas of its collection. One of these areas includes the newly created church basement storage room, which is now fully dedicated to the museum’s collection, optimizing the new space for 100% utilization. Additionally, the museum’s collection working area saw a 20% increase in usable space, while the EMS storage area gained a 45% boost in space.
Thanks to the combined efforts of 17 dedicated staff, students, and volunteers, the museum successfully processed a total of 4,558 objects over the past year—far exceeding the initial goal of 2,000 objects. Their hard work and dedication played a crucial role in significantly enhancing both the organization and preservation of the museum’s vast collection, ensuring that these precious items are well cared for and easily accessible for future generations.
The Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village extends its deepest appreciation to the Museum Assistance Program’s Collection Management Component for their crucial role in helping the museum preserve and showcase our history.
