The Canadian Transportation Museum
and Heritage Village (CTMHV) is a non-profit charitable
organization and facility that was established in 1954 as
the Historic Vehicle Society of Ontario, (which is still the
legally registered name of the organization). Fifty-four acres
of property were purchased in the 1970's and an additional 46
acres were obtained in 2005, for
a total of 100 acres of property on the Arner Townline. The village consists of
over 20 pioneer buildings including a one-room school house, a
general store, barber shop, church, train station, doctor’s
office, several log cabins and well-known historic homes. The
mission of the museum is “to preserve the past of Canada South
for the Education and Interpretation of present and future
generations,” which includes all of you and all of your
students, family and friends. The CTMHV holds its collection and
exists for the benefit of the public. Our staff consists of a
handful of paid employees and a multitude of amazing volunteers
for whom we are especially grateful.
The Canadian Transportation
Museum and Heritage Village is proud to offer excellent programs
in a historic village setting featuring authentic buildings
dating back to 1820. Our programs are designed to provide solid,
hands-on enhancements to your pioneer studies. We also offer
programs in the transportation museum, combined programs and
in-school or off site programs. Our programs are presented by an
experienced professional, and are aided by talented and
dedicated volunteers. Select your program below for more
